vitruvian-man2Finding balance in life is much like trying to find your balance while standing on a moving object. Life doesn’t stop for us to figure out what we want so as life happens we have to find our balance.

A good question to start with might be “what do we mean here at Brio when we talk about balance?” Well we all have multiple responsibilities, desires, and influences in our lives, for example a family, work, hobbies, friends, etc. So how do we figure out what to devote our time and energy to? The key to that question is prioritizing what we feel is important. This will be different for everyone and it is important to be honest with ourselves when identifying what we really want and how we really feel.

Once we set these priorities we need to organize them into two groups:

1. Internal Influences (personal health, habits, character, desires and so on)
2. External Influences (professional, social, cultural)

Within each of these there are four focus areas; The Mind, Heart, Body, and Spirit. It is important to have an influence or goal in each of these areas, yours may be different from others you know and that is ok. Once you have these identified and prioritized you can then move on to your plan.
