Finding your balance and planning a way to fit it all into your life is very important but the next step is the application of everything. The execution of your plan is the second most difficult part of the improvement process next to identifying your Balance. Diligence, humility, and endurance are keys to success in this phase of the cycle.
Because this is where most people become overwhelmed we advise that everyone start with only one goal in each of the four balance quadrants. This allows us to focus on quality and not quantity, it’s also much like testing the waters with a toe rather than jumping in and then right back out.
Consistency is much more important than perfect action. When learning to execute the Improvement Cycle there should be two areas we focus on: Action and Measurement (we will talk more about results in the next section).
Once we have the process mastered we can plug in any goal and we will be able to accomplish it in record time. Every time we practice the Improvement Cycle we get better at it and this experience compounds helping us to achieve more in less time.
Now when we act we must be able to measure our results, this also forces us to focus on our actions actively, we can’t just glide through without paying attention. Now don’t worry it’s easy to keep track so learn more about Measuring and Analyzing our results.
